Where to go on a trip?

Dragon Rocks (3 km)

Dragon Rocks is an impressive rock formation hidden in deep forests between Rejštejn and Kašperské Mountains. It is made up of a group of sandstone towers that resemble dragon's backs from a distance – and according to legend, dragons once lived here.

The place has a unique atmosphere – peace, quiet and a special energy that will be appreciated by anyone looking for a bit of magic in nature. The rocks are easily accessible via forest trails and a trip to them is ideal for families with children or as a shorter walk from Rejštejn.

From the top of the rocks, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding Šumava landscape, and if you are lucky, you will meet more deer than tourists. A place perfect for relaxation, photos and a moment away from civilization.

Kasperske Mountains (6 km)

Kašperské Hory is one of the most beautiful towns in the Bohemian Forest. It is located just a few minutes drive from Rejštejn and is known not only for its picturesque location but also for its rich history associated with gold mining and border protection.

The dominant feature of the city is the majestic Kašperk Castle , which towers over the surrounding landscape and offers beautiful views and fascinating stories from the times of Charles IV. Hiking and cycling routes lead directly from the city to the surrounding forests, rocks, viewpoints and the deep valley of the Otava River.

Čeňka's sawmill (4 km)

Just a few kilometers from Rejštejn is Čeňkova pila , a magical place at the confluence of the Křemelná and Vydra rivers, where they together form the Otava River. What makes this place special is not only its beautiful natural scenery, but also its technical history - there is an original water saw from the 19th century and a small hydroelectric power plant , which is still in operation today.

Čeňkova pila is a great starting point for the Povydří nature trail , which leads along the wild Vydra river to Antýgl and is one of the most beautiful trails in the entire Šumava. The place is easily accessible - about 4 km from Rejštejn ( about 5 minutes by car or 45 minutes on foot along the river ), ideal for a morning or afternoon trip.

Kasperk Castle (7 km)

The highest royal castle in Bohemia, it stands on a rocky hill above the Kašperské Mountains and has been overlooking the Šumava valleys since the 14th century. It was built by Charles IV as a fortress to protect the country's border and the gold mines in the area.

Today, Kašperk is one of the most visited places in Šumava. It offers not only guided tours, but also various thematic events, night tours or theater performances. Its towers offer breathtaking views of the Šumava hills and the surrounding landscape.

A pleasant path through the forest leads to the castle (about 2 km from the parking lot) and the place itself has a unique atmosphere - peace, history and nature all in one. An ideal trip for families, couples and enthusiasts of the Middle Ages.
